Sheida Liaghati

Sheida Liaghati works in Tehran as a painter and painting tutor. She holds a Bachelor of Painting from Payame Noor University, East Tehran, and for years worked and taught alongside Amir Jamshidi, an Iranian master painter, as his art assistant.

Her work moves between two poles: the patient exactness of realism — in portraits, still lifes and animal paintings — and the release of colour and texture across large conceptual canvases. That double pull shows itself in “Ether”, a self-portrait holding barbed wire and a rose, and in “Creation”, which draws birth out of darkness.

Her research interest is modern technology in classic art, a question she pursues through mixed media and in works such as “The Purgatory”, a glass print on canvas.

She has taught at her own gallery in Tehran since 2021.
